Welcome to our world. Here you'll find out about our family life, our alpaca ranch, our explorations in healthy cooking, and anything else that strikes our interest.
Someone recently asked my wife if alpacas like rain. It’s an interesting question if you don’t know alpacas very well.
Alpacas like their comfort, just like anyone else. They don’t need much, but they do need some. They are definitely outdoor animals. They are used to dealing with nature. But they still seek shelter when it rains. They’re not in any trouble if they get caught in a little downpour. We’ve had a few of those days recently and the alpacas just do what we do - they run to shelter and sit around wondering when the weather will change.
They do really well in snow. They wear their sweater everywhere.
These are tough, hardy animals. They were bred to do well in the mountains of Peru. But just because they can bear miserable weather doesn’t mean that they necessarily like to. Some of them complain more than others. And when it’s a hot summer they definitely like for you to give them a shower.
It doesn’t take a lot to make alpacas happy. But you still have to care for them.
We're a family of three. We raise alpacas and chickens. We explore different ways of living healthier and happier. We love to share what we learn and to learn what you care to share.
